Its versatility is simply unmatched. From wide-angle establishing shots to tighter interviews, it covered so much ground. The O.I.S.
It’s not the fastest lens, but for most situations, the f/4 was perfectly adequate, especially given the S1H’s excellent low-light performance with its Dual Native ISO.

Sigma’s Art series lenses have a reputation for optical excellence, and this one absolutely lived up to the hype. The difference was immediately apparent. The sharpness, even wide open at f/1.4, was astounding.

Then came the dilemma of a longer prime. This lens, while not as fast as some f/1.4 or f/1.2 options, struck a perfect balance of performance, size, and affordability.
The f/1.8 aperture still provides excellent subject separation, and the lens itself is surprisingly compact and lightweight for an 85mm full-frame lens. For portraits, tight close-ups, and adding a touch of cinematic drama, it has been a dream. The autofocus on the Panasonic native lenses with the S1H is also incredibly reliable, which is a huge plus for run-and-gun situations.
- Its built-in O.I.S. is a lifesaver.
- It’s incredibly sharp and beautifully rendered.
- Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f/1.8: Perfect for portraits, tighter shots, and adding a touch of elegance with its beautiful bokeh and compact form factor.
